Uranostind

Route info

Description

The best start point for this route is Koldedalen but you can also start from Tyinholmen or Fondsbu. There are path signs only in the beginning, they will disappear around the lake Urdalsvatnet/Kvitevatnet.

Follow the easy route from Koldedalen to the lake Urdalsvatnet. Then walk in northeast direction up to the hill which leads you to the glacier Uranosbreen. You have now the lake (1518 metres a.s) to the left of you.

Prepare your glacier equipment and jump up on the glacier and begin the walk. Sight just to the left of Urdaknatten. When you passed that rock turn left and get up to the plateau between Slingsbytinden and Uranostind. Now you just follow the ridge to the south and uphill to the top. It's probably a lot of snow here. To take the last metres to the real peak you walk or crawl on a narrow edge, so don't stumble! The views are like you expected very delicious.

Hiking time

12 hours (both ways)

Worth to know

This hike will demand glacier equipment.
If you want to camp just put up the tent between Koldedalen and Urdalsvatnet/Kvitevatnet.
