1998-07-24 - Skogadalsbøen - Leirvassbu - Øvre Høgvagltjørnene
The time was 10.45 and we left Skogadalsbøen but after some hundred meters Hansson stepped on a slippery stone and felt into a water pit. The only thing to do was to change clothes. The first hours impression was rain, not so much, and sultry air. We felt tired when we came up the Storutladalen but the air became a bit colder and after a while the hike was more pleasant. There was lots of Dutchman.

After dinner beside the power station the rain stopped and we were grateful for that. The way to Leirvassbu didn't offer any surprises but it was heavy.

When we were close to Leirvassbu we saw that the whole Norwegian people looked at us when they were sitting inside eating some really nice food with wine. Sometimes life is cruel. At 18.30 we stood in door to the cottage. Leirvassbu seemed to be a dance palace and it was Friday night. We saw a nice proverb inside the building: Those who are sleeping can't commit sin.

Outside we met the Dutchman and they seemed tired. One of the ladies in the group wanted to sleep in the cottage but she hadn't got any money. We felt sorry for her so we almost gave her some money. One of us also wanted to sleep there but thoughts like that is no good.

In the cottage we decided to walk a bit further towards Olavsbu. It was fun to see the people watching us through the window. We could nearly hear them say: Idiots!

Outside it was cold and it was hard to begin the hike. When we reached the lake Høgvaglen the fog was not funny at all. We couldn't see our own hands. We began to look for a place for our tent; it wasn't easy in that stone terrain. But we found a perfect place at least with lot of stones around. The time was 20.15 and the tent went up and we made food in the stove (three-course of course!). A traditional beer sausage with some shots finished the evening for us.
