FIRST AID [open air security]

Below you'll find some points to think about before and during your hike.

Preventive steps

  • Leave a message with your planned route and when you think you'll be back.

  • Always bring a compass and a map with you.

  • Make sure that your clothes will manage rain and cold weather, and don't forget to have an extra pair of clothes with you.

  • First aid kit.

  • Emergency food, bring one day extra food with you.

  • "Good to have kit" - match or lighter, knife, cord.

Accident

  • Try to rescue everyone.

  • Give first aid.

  • Take care of smaller injuries.

Clamour

  • Smoke signs from the fire.

  • Signs on the ground which could be recognised from air.

  • Emergency rocket.

  • Mobile phone. If it works!

  • There's always a possibility, depending on the weather and how many you are in the group, to walk to nearest cottage or village to get help.

Steps to do until help arrives

  • Make a shield that protects you from rain and wind.

  • Try to make a fire. It's important to keep warm.

  • Water. You'll need about 2-3 liters of liquid per day.
